There was such an air of grace that swirled around Magnus in everything he did that simply opening the door was a work of art. It was just one of many things he found endearing about Magnus; that no matter what, he was always true to himself. Alec stepped across the threshold into Magnus's loft, hooking his hand around the Warlock's waist reeling him in close and once their chests touched, Alec bent his neck to capture Magnus's lips with his own. "You know, punctuality is.... not my middle name but it is a trait I like to boast," He teased. Alec found it hard to believe the changes in himself that Magnus inspired. He finally felt free to just be who he was, not who he was expected to be. "What's on the agenda tonight? Prague? Berlin? Vienna?" Alec stole another soft kiss before awkwardly walking Magnus backwards into the room, not quite ready to let him go. |

Alec folded his arms over his chest, canting his head and lifting a brow to cast a inquisitive look to the Seelie Knight and the Shadowhunter that stood at his side. He certainly wasn't one to judge other people's relationships but even he couldn't fathom what could possible bring Meliorn and Raj together and yet here they were requesting a leave of absence on Raj's behalf. Few people knew of Raj's illness, he had said he didn't want to be treated differently, but it now seemed as if Meliorn was in the know.This isn't about just you, it's about what best for all of us, Meliorn had said, prompting him to reconsider his position. The institute desperately needed every Shadowhunter they had, but he did need to think about what was best for Raj. Alec's hazel eyes bounced between the pair before he finally nodded his head. "Alright," He stated, earning smiles from the pair before adding, "Take care of him, Meliorn. I won't tolerate my Shadowhunter being returned to me broken."

- LIGHTWOOD - "When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat." "That sounds great!" Alec perked. Somewhere out of the tri-state area sounded like heaven. Hell, a sweltering cornfield in the middle of Iowa sounded better than sticking around battling with Jace for a little alone time. Alec eyeballed his Parabatai. He loved Jace. Loved him like a brother, a friend, as something more and in between. He'd without question lay down his life for Jace, but right now, Alec really wanted to sucker punch him.
Alec knew Jace had a lot on his plate at the moment, but that didn't excuse rotten manners. He made a face before turning back to Magnus where his hand slipped from Magnus's shoulder and fell into his palm, fingers lacing together. "Where do you want to go?" He asked with a smile.

More than going without food, Alec looked as if he'd gone weeks without sleep. His coloring was paler than usual, dark circles weighted down his eyes, and even his shoulders slumped lower than expected. The thought that Magnus could have died while the Soul Sword was activated... It was a thought Alec couldn't bring himself to face, he was just extraordinarily thankful it hadn't happened. Gathering the fallen and returning them to their people was a task even he wasn't prepared for, and it weighed heavily upon his shoulders. Many people lost their loved ones, they weren't as lucky as he was.
Alec watched Magnus's back as he lead him across the threshold of his loft, resisting the urge to reach out and touch him, make sure he was still tangible. A slight smile came to him when Magnus, as usual, turned to face him with that charismatic charm that was so... Magnus. Always putting his best face forward, facing things with a smile, It was something Alec didn't know how to do. His stoic face couldn't even pretend he wasn't feeling as anxious as he was. At the very least, he had told Magnus how he felt. He was sure it was obvious in his actions, but the words needed to be said, and when they were returned to him, it nearly took his breath away.
Alec gave a weak nod, not even realizing how hungry he actually was. "I could use something to eat..." He mumbled as he lifted his own hand to rest atop Magnus's . |

- LIGHTWOOD - "When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat." Hazel eyes slipped shut when Magnus found his lips again. Kissing him was surreal and dreamlike, how could this beautiful, powerful being that could have anyone he wanted be kissing him back? Despite his love for alcoholic drinks, Magnus tasted sweet, almost like sugar and Alec couldn't help but run his tongue over the other's lips, lapping up what sweetness he could in between breaths. Magnus's hands left pinpricks of electricity across his skin, leaving burning trails of heat behind tender fingertips. It all served to raise his excitement and impatience. Alec had no real knowledge of what to do or how to do it but he let himself move naturally, Magnus had yet to complain so he must be doing things right.Alec's broad palms swept across Magnus's now bare back, his skin smooth and soft, sensitive to the touch, at least Alec figured as much from the way he moved and wiggled underneath the pressure. The Shadowhunter's mouth left Magnus's in favor of his neck, trailing kisses over the soft pulse that fluttered just under his jaw. His fingertips moved, this time towards the waistline of Magnus's pants, slipping underneath the fabric and down across the curve of his ass. He didn't know when it happened but he had become so thoroughly intoxicated by this man that self control became a foreign concept and his hips bucked upwards as he pushed Magnus down towards him.By the angel, Alec thought to himself this man is beautiful. So utterly beautiful. |

Alec stepped out of the portal hand in hand with Magnus and onto the festive filled streets of Tokyo. Brightly lit buildings buzzed with advertisements as kimono clad girls shuffled down the street after traditionally clad men dancing in synchronicity. Deliciously sweet scents rose from the carts of food vendors while decorations, music and drums filled the air. Alec didn't know exactly what was going on this night but it was... magical. There was so much to see it was hard to know what to look at next, but a bright smile remained plastered to his face, looking like a small child at a theme park. Alec took a step forward and remembered his hand was still clutching tightly to Magnus and for a moment he drained of color, until Magnus intertwined their fingers together. This wasn't New York. There was nobody here that knew them, and although Alec stuck out like a sore thumb, towering over everyone, he was free to walk hand and hand with Magnus down the city streets.
Passing vendors selling a variety of charms, fortunes, candies and trinkets, Magnus explained what they were witnessing was called the Shichigatsu Bon, a festival of dance and music to honor the spirits of one's ancestors. Shadowhunters, too, had ties to their ancestors but nothing as inviting and festive as this. "This is amazing, Magnus!" He responded as two giggling children scuttled past him with baggies filled with water and live goldfish. "I'm hungry, want to get something to eat?"

Alec wasn't sure he could possibly be more annoyed with Jace, but he was definitely sure his Parabatai had to feel it. It was hard telling if Jace's presence was really coincidental or if he was interrupting on purpose. Most likely the later. And so, Alec was frustrated. He'd just stepped into his first relationship, finally started to feel comfortable with who and what he was and all he wanted to do was to spend time with Magnus, get to know him better. Yet, every moment they could spare for themselves was obstructed by the blonde boy.
Magnus had been so close to him he could feel the heat that radiated from his skin, it was intoxicating and Alec bent his head to capture the other's lips when the pest miraculously showed up. The pair took a step back from each other, watching with disdain as Jace padded barefoot across the living room and into the kitchen. Not even a hello? Not even an apology for the interruption? Alec had just about had enough when he took Magnus by the shoulder. "Maybe we can go somewhere?" Of course that also presented problems, where was privacy to be found out in public? |

- LIGHTWOOD - "When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat." There were many times in his life that Alec was unaware of the impact of his words. Truth tended to fall from his mouth in blunt and sometimes harsh ways. It was a flaw, but one that his closest friends and family seemed to tolerate. Even now, he didn't fully realize the significance his words had on Magnus, he only knew he spoke the truth. Magnus's eyes indeed spoke of what he was, but they also spoke of who he was. And that was a kind, gentle and lonely soul hidden behind a flamboyant exterior and dazzling smile. Alec knew for certain that Magnus was more than capable of taking care of himself, after all he had done just that for centuries, but the desire to hold and protect him came in vast floods of emotion that could overtake the impetuous walls he had raised since childhood. He found it hard to believe that a person could still feel so many insecurities after seeing humanity at it's best and worst times. Yet, here was Magnus, the High Warlock of Brooklyn, nervous that his true self would turn Alec away. How could he not want to shelter him? Alec could only smile when Magnus asked if the mood was spoiled, for nothing Magnus could do would spoil anything that Alec felt for him. The kiss the warlock offered brought his smile out even further. Alec used both hands to cup Magnus's face, deepening the kiss with fervor and passion, parting his lips and coaxing Magnus with his tongue. Magnus might be his first and only relationship, but Alec was a quick study, learning the subtle ways Magnus preferred to be touched. Alec lay back down, bring Magnus atop him once more. "Much better," He agreed. |

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Alec is very tall and a little bit lanky. Towering over his friends and family, he sometimes appears awkward and uncomfortable in his own skin, hunching down to present himself smaller. He sports a head of thick, neatly cropped, wavy black hair and hazel eyes set deep into a stern yet handsome face. His body is covered in lean muscle, which provides strength as well as agility. Alec is typically found wearing black Shadowhunter gear that covers most of his runes, save for a large "deflect" rune that spans from jaw to shoulder on the left side of his neck.

Personality
BASIC PERSONALITY: Alec comes across as a stern faced, play-by-the-rules authoritarian. Although he is far from perfect, he expects perfection from himself and those around him. He's a relatively closed off individual and is extremely wary of newcomers and people he doesn't know. Serious about his training, about his job, about his life, and yet he also exposes extreme tenderness to those he cares for. Even though his relationship with his parents is at times strenuous, he holds his family in high regard, even doting on his sister, and little brother. He houses a deep respect and almost worship of The Clave, truly believing they have the Downworld's best interests in mind and even during the times when they don't, Alec believes he can step up and represent The Clave morally.
Alec's morals are strict and without question. Honesty and integrity on the top of a long list of personal principles and standards. He finds it difficult to lie and is often blunt and forthright about his opinions and thoughts, following his brain more often than his heart. Yet it is his heart that leads him to bravely defend his friends and family, to be there for them when they need him and even be emphatically willing to lay down his own life for theirs.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Alec is extremely proficient in the use of seraph blades, runes and hand to hand combat, yet prefers the bow and arrow as his weapon of choice. His Parabatai bond with Jace Herondale also grants him the ability to use special runes and draw strength from his partner. Alec's relationship with Magnus Bane gives him some leeway in working with the Downworlders he's come to care deeply about.
WEAKNESSES: Alec's weaknesses stem first and foremost from himself. History

FAMILY: Alec is the eldest of three children born to Robert and Maryse Lightwood.

HISTORY: From a young age, Alec was born for leadership. Being a Shadowhunter and following commands were his two best achievements. As a child, Alec strived for perfection, following every rule and law in order to garner the affections and praise of his parents. He admired them for their leadership and came to fall in line directly behind them, even when it meant ostracization from his peers. His parents adoption of Jace, however, came with good timing and acted like a reprieve for Alec. He took to Jace like like a fish to water and the two became inseparable and eventually Parabatai. Unfortunately, along with the happiness of having a friend, came mixed feelings of love and it terrified him. The Clave wasn't too friendly to openly gay relationships and relationships between Parabatai was strictly forbidden. Alec learned quickly how to harness his emotions, tethering them under the weight of responsibility. He learned how to deprive himself and put up a well thought out front. As he reached adulthood, Jace and their sister, Isabelle, were his constant companions, people he would freely bleed for. A content and relatively peaceful life came to an abrupt halt when Clary Fray showed up, stealing Jace's attentions and pumping Alec full of bitterness. Despite his intense dislike of the girl, he still couldn't deny Jace and went along with many of his rule-breaking escapades.
Meeting Magnus Bane would set the course of his life in a different direction altogether. A rocky courtship finally answered by a public, wedding-crashing kiss set a new precedent, would the Clave accept this relationship or deny it? Magnus helped Alec to persevere through judgements and the fowl opinions of others, and it was his siblings and friends who accepted him with open arms. Finally, encouraged with confidence rather punishments, Alec ascended to become the Head of the New York Institute where he strives daily to improve relations between the downworlders and The Clave.
