Relationships and Roommates Don't Mix

Alec wasn't sure he could possibly be more annoyed with Jace, but he was definitely sure his Parabatai had to feel it. It was hard telling if Jace's presence was really coincidental or if he was interrupting on purpose. Most likely the later. And so, Alec was frustrated. He'd just stepped into his first relationship, finally started to feel comfortable with who and what he was and all he wanted to do was to spend time with Magnus, get to know him better. Yet, every moment they could spare for themselves was obstructed by the blonde boy.

Magnus had been so close to him he could feel the heat that radiated from his skin, it was intoxicating and Alec bent his head to capture the other's lips when the pest miraculously showed up. The pair took a step back from each other, watching with disdain as Jace padded barefoot across the living room and into the kitchen. Not even a hello? Not even an apology for the interruption? Alec had just about had enough when he took Magnus by the shoulder. "Maybe we can go somewhere?" Of course that also presented problems, where was privacy to be found out in public?

AREN'T BLACK AND WHITE

If there was one virtue that Magnus could claim, it was patience. Well, most of the time. In fact, only in regards to one thing in his life. One person. And that was Alec. Patience, to wait for when the Shadowhunter was ready. Patience, to cherish their relationship and take things slowly. What Magnus never would have thought he needed to exercise such patience in . . . was Jace. While he knew all about the parabatai bond, this had nothing to do with that. This was about having a roommate who seemed rather comfortable. And settled. And . . . it made Magnus wonder how long the man intended to remain.

He was doing this more for the fact that Jace was Alec's family. Yet, in moments like these, where Magnus felt his heart beat faster in anticipation, where he could take in the scent and feel of Alec body and warmth . . . only for it to be so abruptly torn from him due to the presence of another man . . . patience, suddenly seemed quite difficult. But Magnus remained composed, quickly regaining himself as he offered a small smile, his hand slid through Alec's hair eager to fulfill the suggestion. "Well that depends . . . how far are you willing to go?" He asked almost teasingly. "Maybe somewhere out of the tristate area?" Magnus suggested with a gleam in his eyes.

"That sounds great!" Alec perked. Somewhere out of the tri-state area sounded like heaven. Hell, a sweltering cornfield in the middle of Iowa sounded better than sticking around battling with Jace for a little alone time. Alec eyeballed his Parabatai. He loved Jace. Loved him like a brother, a friend, as something more and in between. He'd without question lay down his life for Jace, but right now, Alec really wanted to sucker punch him.

Alec knew Jace had a lot on his plate at the moment, but that didn't excuse rotten manners. He made a face before turning back to Magnus where his hand slipped from Magnus's shoulder and fell into his palm, fingers lacing together. "Where do you want to go?" He asked with a smile.

Magnus smiled at Alec's response, his fingers curling around his partner's in response to the way Alexander's hand so perfectly fit into his. He thought over the question, tilting his head to the side a little. "I usually pick the places," he began to say. "Where is it you'd most like to go?" He wanted it to be somewhere that Alec wanted. Though, Magnus was curious as to whether Alec had thought about it before. Or if his work prevented him from exploring possibilities outside of duty. Magnus wanted to expose him to that: to the world out there and fulfil all of his desires.
