Magnus was feeling rather nervous. He was hosting the party for Max Lightwood, and it was imperative that everything went well. There was a great deal at stake after all. Magnus wanted to impress Alec's parents, for his lover's sake more than Magnus' desire to bond with Maryse. But if he could create more . . . positive rapport with her, then he knew it would be one less stress for Alec to deal with. And Magnus never wanted to be the source for that for his partner. So when guests started arriving, Magnus had made sure they were well tended to, that there were drinks and food available . . . and that everyone was having a good time. He remained very keen in his role as host. On his check ins he came across Raj, who had emptied a martini glass, as Magnus looked at him, teasingly speaking the words of it not being just lemonade. Magnus didn't know Raj that well . . . but he of course was invited as a Shadowhunter. Just like the rest of them were. Besides, this wasn't about Magnus, it was about Max and the Lightwoods.
