Raj immediately threw his hands up in defense. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" He started, "That's unnecessary roughness, okay? I might not be a Lightwood, but I can take care of myself." He might have actually puffed out his chest a bit as well. "Who knows? I might just have to take care of you."
If Raj himself weren't so damn awkward, he'd probably say this was his most awkward meeting yet, but he also knew he had a job to do and he'd get it done to the best of his ability. A Seelie was dead, and he was going to track down the culprit, bringing justice along with him for the ride. Sure he had some lofty ideals but his intentions were always good. "So. Moving on. Do I get to know your name?"

If that wasn't a dagger straight through the heart, Raj's vivid imagination conjured a scene of himself laying in blood there on the sidewalk, the Knight towering over him, his words a sword that stabbed him over and over and over and over. Digging into his flesh and twisting it raw. He'd never be good enough. Never be strong enough. Never be the brilliant Shadowhunter he always wanted to be... Raj was mumbling to himself when he suddenly remembered where he was. Bringing his attention back to the present once again, he cleared his throat. "Sorry. Ah, well, the Clave is a little short handed at the moment and.. I was available. Apparently." He offered a pitiful grin, scratching the side of his temple. Well what else could he say? The Clave doesn't want to spend precious resources on you so they sent me! Even Raj was pretty sure that might start a war. "So... If you don't mind, tell me what you know already?" When it came to trustworthiness, Raj's appearance didn't emit it, but his actions and character did, if given enough time to prove it. All he needed was a chance.

The Clave was scrapping the bottom of the barrel. It had to make due on it's promises but it also needed every Shadowhunter available on the hunt for Valentine. Unfortunately Raj had drawn the unlucky straw. Or maybe it had been drawn for him, either way he rolled his head in a circle around his shoulders and took a deep breath of the crisp night air through his nose. Instead of saving the world, he was out playing detective for a dead Seelie. If his eyes could roll back into his head any harder, they'd likely pop.
His boots splashed through stagnant puddles as he made his way to the park to meet Meliorn -- the Faerie Knight. With his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jacket, he finally came upon the other who quickly stood to meet him with a questioning look. Raj mirrored it, slowly looking over his own shoulder and then back to the Knight. "Yes..... it is I?" He offered with a shrug of his shoulders, his lips pulling into a deep frown of confusion. What did the Seelie expect, the Clave to send it's brightest and best for murdered Faerie?
Regardless he still held his hand out towards the Knight. "Raj Ashdown" He introduced himself. |

Appearance
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Raj is tall and of average build as he lacks a childhood full of training as most Shadowhunters have. Being of Indian descent, he has dark nearly black eyes, a thick mop of black hair and unblemished brown skin. For his age, his runes are few, but strategically placed in order to be visible. Raj carries himself rather casually, although he also likes to puff out his chest once in awhile to impress upon others. He's typically found in black Shadowhunter gear, but occasionally likes to wear tee-shirts of his favorite mundane bands.

Personality
BASIC PERSONALITY: Raj is an outgoing guy with a clever and sometimes inappropriate sense of humor. He's quick with a smile or a small gesture of friendship if he thinks someone is feeling down. Given his status of Ascended, Raj finds he needs validation much more than anyone else. His peers all have considerably more training under their belts and that pushes Raj forward to be the best he can be and try keep up with them. This often leads to frustration which can and sometimes has gotten him into trouble. Raj is a play by the book kind of guy and takes his work seriously. Despite his horrible first encounter with Downworlders, Raj doesn't condemn entire groups for the actions of a few and takes his role as a protector of humanity to heart. He hates to see anyone hurt or in pain whether it be physical or mental, but he doesn't let his feelings cloud his judgements. He has a job to do, and he will do it well.
When it comes to Raj's friends and family he can be a fierce guardian and will go well out of his way to ensure their safety and happiness. Although he's a far cry from being the strongest Shadowhunter, he is extremely loyal, almost to a fault.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Proficient in the use of Seraph blades and daggers. Nothing is particularly special about him.
WEAKNESSES: Raj tends to care too much about what other people think of him, because of this he acts like a fool often saying improper things and never taking himself seriously. He desires to be well liked and to fit in, but overshoots and ends up turning people away. Raj would be considered quite average in his Shadowhunter abilities and can be overcome easily.
History
BIRTHPLACE: Georgetown, Guyana.
FAMILY: Birth mother deceased. Birth father unknown. Adopted and raised by Jonathan and Carolyn Ashdown in the Los Angeles Institute.
OCCUPATION: Shadowhunter
HISTORY: Born a mundane to Indo-Guyanese parents, Raj became an orphan at the age of 6 due to a bloody but failed Downworld uprising. Jonathan and Carolyn Ashdown of the Los Angeles Institute had been dispatched to help quell the riot when they came upon Raj, alive among a crowd of massacred mundanes. The pair took the child into their fold and raised him in the Los Angeles Institute. At the age of 12, his parents petitioned the Clave for ascension and after several months of rigorous training, Raj was welcomed into the ranks of the Shadowhunters. However, he grew frustrated and discouraged when he was unable to keep up with his peers. A hot temper and angry outbursts led to many days of punishments before his parents decided it might be best for Raj to start clean and when he turned 18, they transferred him to the New York Institute to be lead under Robert Lightwood's authority. While in New York, Raj found he admired Robert and kept his nose clean in order to impress him. For years things progressed smoothly for him until Clary Fray stepped foot inside the Institute and started a chain reaction of change and modification to the leadership he respected.
