Q: What is this site based on?
A: This role play is based on the tv series Shadowhunters.
Q: Is the site based on the television series or the books?
A: Television Series. Because the book series is so different from the TV series, we are focused more on the television series. If there is a character you want to play in the books who is not in the show, you can do so as long as it does not drastically conflict with the series. If there are events in the book that you would like to play out that did not happen in the show and are out of canon, then you have the freedom to explore these plots in the AU board.
Q: Is there a set timeline on the site?
A: No. Threads can take place any time before, during, or after any of the episodes in any of the seasons. We also have an AU section where you can have "What If..." threads.
Q: How many times do I have to post as my character?
A: At least 2 times a week per canon, and at least once a week per OCs. If you have multiple characters, then that is PER character.
Q: How many characters am I allowed to have?
A: You are permitted to have as many characters as you like, however please remember the posting requirement and don't take more than you can handle. While we have no set rule limiting the number of canons, we ask that if you are taking more than one canon, that neither of those characters have many scenes together as we would not want to create any character conflict by the same person taking two characters that interact a great deal. For example: one person taking Clary and Jace.
Q: Do I have to wait for the admin to approve my bio?
A: Yes. We require that you wait until bio approval before posting anywhere in the role play, plotting in the Discovering Your Destiny board, or requesting graphics. You will receive a PM from us when your bio has been approved.
Q: How long does it usually take for a bio to get approved?
A: Approximately 2 days. We as staff members may also get busy with other commitments so we ask that you remain patient with us. The maximum time it will take is 3 days. You will either receive an APPROVED PM, or a PM asking you to make some modifications.
Q: How do I reserve a character or face claim?
A: There are two ways you can do this. The first is PMing the staff with the character or face claim you would like to reserve. The other way to automatically reserve a character is by posting a WIP [Work In Progress] bio in the Applications board. You are permitted to have the character on reserve for 5 days. After that, they will be taken off reserve. For canon characters, we ask that you please wait a week before reapplying.
Q: Can I apply for canon characters that are not in the cast list?
A: Yes. Since there are so many characters, we have only listed a few of the main ones, but any canons not listed there are assumed to be open for application.
Q: Can I apply for canon characters that died in the show?
A: Yes. However if you wish to play that canon, then you can only have threads that take place before their death in the canon role play boards and if you would like threads that take place where they did not die or somehow returned, then those threads must be posted in the "AU What If" board.
Q: Which boards are role play ones?
A: Any boards listed under the category "Role Play Locations" are boards for role play threads to be posted in. Please do not post any rp threads outside of these boards. The only exceptions are the other boards for posts as your muse include Ask The Character, Memes, and Posting Challenges.
Q: Am I allowed to be in more than one thread at one time?
A: Yes. You are permitted to have your character in more than one thread at one time since there is no set timeline on the board. Just be sure you can keep track of all the threads you are in and that you can handle all of them. A suggestion would be bookmarking them to keep track.
